James Monseu

September 20, 1940 — January 5, 2023

Littleton, Colorado

James (Jim) Victor Monseu, while surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023. Jim was born in Denver, CO on September 20, 1940 to his parents Victor and Loretta (VonFeldt) Monseu. He was the second of five children: Patricia, Barbara, Steven, and Annette. He graduated from Holy Family High School in 1958 and enlisted in the military.

After proudly serving 4 years in the Marines, including one year in Vietnam, Jim went to work for the Denver Fire Department for 34 years. He retired as the District Fire Chief in 1997.

Jim met the love of his life, Freda Goff in 1967. They were married at St. Catherine’s church in Denver, CO on June 1, 1968 and started their family with the arrival of David James in September 1969, and then Bryon Victor in November 1971.

Jim and Freda’s door was always open and Jim was ready to feed anyone who showed up, usually spaghetti, and he was always ready to bounce a baby on his knee.

Jim loved his family fiercely, particularly his children and grandchildren – son David Monseu (wife Kirsten) and their children June and Juliet; son Bryon Monseu (wife Cheyenne) and their children Joseph and Isabella; sisters and brother; nieces and nephews and many family and friends around the world.

In the weeks before his passing he enjoyed great meals and many laughs with his family.
