James Douglas Montgomery, age 76, died in Aurora, Colorado on Wednesday February 8, 2023.
Born July 19, 1946 in Cheyenne, he lived in Denver, Colorado and worked at Vickery Motorsports for over forty years until retiring in 2019. Doug was a veteran of the United States Navy and had served during the Vietnam War. His dedication inspired his children to follow suit and joined the armed services as well.
Survivors include sister Dalyce Montgomery, daughter Tangie Montgomery, sons Zachary Bursnall, Jonathan Peacock (Rachel), and Cameron Montgomery (Andrea), and grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Zachary, Jude, Quinn, Tyler, Savannah, Paxton and Kellen. He will also be missed by his fur babies: Baylee, Moxie, Oliver, Stella and Hamilton. Doug was preceded in death by his wife Pamela.
Services will be held at 2:30 on Monday, February 27th, 2023 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236. Please gather at Section B 15 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation in Doug’s name be made to the Paws for Purple Hearts ( https://pawsforpurplehearts.org/ ). An organization that provides canine assisted therapy and service dogs for veterans and service members.
