James Franklin Pierce (Jim) passed peacefully from this earth surrounded by his family at home.
At 17, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country as a signalman on an aircraft carrier in World War II. He and his sweetheart, Marilyn Cowherd, were married in February of 1947. Jim enjoyed a long career as a heavy equipment operator with Public Service Company until his early retirement in 1984 to care for Marilyn until her passing in February 1995. Together Jim and Marilyn had four children; Sandy (Myron) Ababurko, David (Katherine) Pierce, Charles (Marie) Pierce, and Lori (Rod) Murrow.
Jim married Evelyn Battiste September 14,1996, his devoted and loving wife until his return home to the Lord. They enjoyed years of traveling including many cruises and several trips to Mexico. They have been avid Rockies and Bronco fans, loved to fish together and enjoyed their time on bowling leagues. He was a wonderful father to Evelyn's three daughters, Cheryl (Jeff) Olson-Tracy, Lynda Olson, and Donya Dobrash. Jim was also the most special grandfather to 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, Jim lived strong in his faith. In 1981 he was recognized for serving on the Building Committee of the Columbine Hills Church of the Nazarene.
