James Allen Rainey

James Allen Rainey, age 69, passed away on March 24, 2020. He was born on August 30, 1950 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Jim served as a Littleton police officer until, at the age of 34, a stroke prevented him from returning to police work. As a young man he worked for Outward Bound and Camp Chief Ouray, mentoring and teaching teens outdoor survival skills. He was a technical climber, hiker, 4-wheeler, and fisherman. Over the years he wore out decks of cards playing Solitaire and roped most of us into playing a game of Scrabble or two. He will be remembered as the ultimate jokester and storyteller whose kindness and positivity left an imprint on the hearts of all of those who knew him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Marie Rainey, his daughters, Jennifer Gomes (Francis) and Brittany Hanley (Peter), his grandchildren: Madeline Gomes, Taylor Gomes, Aaron Gomes, Blake Hanley, Ella Hanley, and Miles Hanley and his siblings: Gary Wells (Rita), Roxanne Mays (Harold), Tracy Rainey and Maury Rainey.
