James Francis Randolph, a kind and caring friend to us all left this world peacefully on June 19, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 21st 1931 in Hastings, Nebraska. Jim was the first of ten children born to Francis Emmett and Georgina Randolph. He grew up with a love of the Nebraska Cornhuskers that lasted his entire life. He graduated from St Cecilia High School in 1948 at the age of 16 and was successful in every area of his life. Most importantly, we remember him as a loving and dedicated husband, a caring and doting father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He sought and achieved much in his diverse careers. After high school he was a telegraphic operator for Santa Fe RR in Emporia, KS. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in February 1952 and trained at Ft Bliss, TX. Then he went on to serve his country in the Korean War, and during his service he was awarded several decorations. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he entered the computer field, joining Sunstrand Corporation in Denver, CO. He met Elizabeth Meisenbach in Denver, they married on February 1st, 1964 and they remained in a lifelong and happy marriage. He joined AMAX Molybdenum Company in 1963 and moved to Leadville, CO where he served as Director of Data Processing and concurrently obtained his bachelor's degree from Regis University in Business. He and Liz brought two daughters into the world, Marybeth in 1965 and Rita in 1967. They relocated with AMAX to Lakewood in February 1974. After his retirement in 1981, he taught at Red Rocks Community College and Regis University; he also worked as a driver for Jefferson County Mental Health Center. Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth, 2 daughters Marybeth (Jeff) Pickett and Rita (Brent) Kendrick and 6 grandchildren, CaraBeth and Annette Kendrick, Tyler Pickett, Renee Kendrick, Jeremy and Elisa Pickett, 3 sisters Sister Micaela Randolph, Mary Pope and Rita Hunter and 3 brothers Mike, Pat and Ed Randolph. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jack and Tom, and his sister Delores. He greatly enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends (and Elks brothers). His many hobbies included softball, golf, bowling, sports pools, sailing, and everything related to elephants (you could also say he had the memory of an elephant). He enjoyed his many road trips to Nebraska, California and Florida. Jim was an avid reader, puzzle solver, and of course followed the Huskers, developing an encyclopedic knowledge of all of their many accomplishments. During the last several years of his life he spent lots of time with his grandchildren â He never missed their sporting events and performances. Jim is best described as a kind and gentle man with a funny sense of humor, a twinkle in his eye, and a sharer of wintergreen lifesavers. According to his grandchildren, Jim knew everything (and he did!) He was devoted to the Catholic faith and served as an usher at St Jude's Catholic Church for 20 years. He loved conversation with his friends and family, and if you happened to drop by their home in the summer you would be ushered out to the back patio to enjoy some good talks and cold drinks. He had a quiet but very funny sense of humor and always had a kind word to say about everyone. A memorial reception will be held at the Randolph house following the services. Maps will be provided at the church.
