Reverend Monsignor James W. Rasby was born in Stratton, Nebraska to Louis J. Rasby and Mayme Agnes (Boyle) Rasby on May 13, 1925, and passed away at his home in Denver on July 23, 2014 at age 89. Monsignor Rasby was ordained a Priest June 7, 1952. He served the Archdiocese of Denver as Assistant Pastor, Christ The King Catholic Church, 1952 - 1959, Pastor, Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church 1959-1967, founding Pastor of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Rector of the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 1969-1989, Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1989 - 1995. He was co-founder of Samaritan House with Fr. Woodrich, and retired in 1995. Recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday, 7PM at The Gardens at St. Elizabeth, 2835 West 32nd Avenue. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10AM at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, East Colfax Avenue and Logan Street. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Following the Interment, a reception will be held at Mount Olivet Reception Center.
