James ""Jim"" Vogt, 86, of Denver, passed away due to medical complications related to a recent stroke, on November 4, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

A rosary will be held on Tuesday, November 12th, at 7:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty on South Colorado Blvd. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13th at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow, at Bethany Lutheran 4500 E. Hampden Avenue Cherry Hills, CO 80113. A private internment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

James Patrick Vogt was born March 4, 1933 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Mary and Michael Vogt. Shortly after he was born, he and his mother returned to their hometown of Burlington, Colorado, where his father and brother (Lou) and sister (Jane) were awaiting their return. Jim attended Burlington Public Schools, graduating from Burlington High School in 1951. During those years in Burlington, he acquired many life-long friendships and experienced many events (i.e. dust storms during the Dust Bowl and financial hardship during the Great Depression) that would stay with him forever. Jim attended St. Thomas University in Minnesota, where he played football. He then transferred to Colorado State University, where he was a member of ROTC and the Sigma Chi fraternity, majoring in Agriculture. While attending CSU, he met Joan Perry, of Fort Collins, Colorado. After earning his bachelor's degree in 1955, he entered the Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant in Radar Infantry. He and Joan married on July 17, 1956, in Malden, MO. During his four years of service in the Air Force, they lived in several locations in the United States. In 1958, Jim was honorably discharged from the Air Force and the family returned to Denver, where he took a position with Travellers Insurance. Not long after, he was encouraged by a friend to join him at Boettcher and Company, where Jim started his career in investment banking, selling municipal bonds. Jim immediately flourished in this career and became a Partner in Boettcher. Though Boettcher was bought out by Kemper Corp., Jim remained there, a highly respected Partner, until he retired in 1990.

During these years in Denver, Jim and family lived in the south and southeast Denver areas, finally settling in Southmoor Park in 1972, where all four children were raised. Jim and his family enjoyed spending time at Eastmoor Swim Club, being physically active, taking family vacations, and forming many lifelong friendships. In his retirement, Jim enjoyed getting back to his roots in Burlington, Colorado, tending to his sections of dryland wheat and 100 head of cattle. He took pride and pleasure in being the ""City Slicker."" He also cherished his time in the mountains, at his cabin in Fraser, Colorado.

Jim's wife Joan passed away on February 20, 1993. On January 17, 1998, Jim married Donna English, who remained his loving and devoted wife for their remaining 21 years together.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Vogt; daughter, Teri Vogt; son, Tim Vogt; daughter, Mary Vogt; daughter Michelle Vogt (Bob Dwyer); grandchildren, Amanda Neidig, Jessica Eagleboy, Evan Dwyer, Addie Dwyer, Colin Dwyer, Brandon Vogt, and Justin Vogt; many nieces, nephews, and stepchildren; and numerous other relatives across the United States.
