Earl Meeks of Centennial, CO passed away November 30th, 2021. He was 88 years old.
Earl was born August 21, 1933, in Memphis, TN, the son of Earl Holland and Mary Frances Meeks. He graduated from Central High School in 1951. He enlisted in the Army after working in the electrical contracting business for several years. His last posting in the Army was at Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs as a cryptographer. While at Ft. Carson he joined the young adult group at First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, where he met Clara (Jean) Smith. Earl and Jean married on July 6th, 1958. They returned to Starkville, MS where Earl returned to his second year at Mississippi State University. They returned to Colorado Springs in 1959, also resided in Kansas City, then to Centennial, CO in 1970. Earl was in the electrical supply business the entirety of his career and retired in 2003.
Earl was an avid golfer, amateur astronomer and a fan of Western US history. He was a member of the Littleton United Methodist Church for 51 years.
Earl was a dedicated and loving Husband and Father. Rather than tout his own accomplishments, he relished the simpler times spent with family and friends and the celebrations of his sons' and grandchildrens' accomplishments, his pride was evident as he talked about them.
Earl is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean; sons' Andy (Diane Musgrave Meeks) of Castle Rock, CO; Scott (Melissa Gill Meeks) of Highlands Ranch, CO and Jeff of Denver, CO.; six grandchildren (Max, Jordan, Sam, Matthew, Walker and Holland) and three great grandchildren (Tate, Ella, Hudson and one on the way).
He is preceded in death by parents Earl and Mary Frances, daughter Mary Katherine, and brother Jerry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on December 14, 2021, at Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 S Datura St, Littleton, CO 80120. A reception will follow, then interment at Ft Logan National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Littleton United Methodist Church.
