James "Jim" Patrick Cassidy, age 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday September 8th, 2022 at his home in Lakewood, CO.
Known to many by Butch, Jimmy, Jimbo and most importantly to his grandchildren as Poppy; James will be deeply missed by all who came in contact with his piercing blue eyes and charismatic smile.
James was born November 25, 1954 in Denver, CO. His family then relocated to Salt Lake City, UT for a portion of his childhood before the family returned to Colorado and ultimately settled in the Bear Valley area where he attended Mullen and Kennedy High School.
James was a wonderful man which was evident in the days leading up to his passing as he was surrounded by those he had touched over the 67 years of his life. A hardworking member of the Railroad for 30+ years, James retired in 2004 after working for the Rio Grande and Union Pacific railroads. He then devoted his days to being self-proclaimed humorist and keeping his family and friends laughing with his quick wit and charming nature. He was an avid Colorado sports fan, a fanatical mystery novel buff and a hot rod enthusiast. You could usually find him cheering on his Denver Broncos or taking a spin in his prized 1929 Ford Model A roadster with his cherished Golden Retriever, Jenny.
James is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years Tina Cassidy; sons Jeremy (Kaylee) and Cody Cassidy; beloved grandchildren Courtland James "CJ" and Emerson Everly who Poppy affectionately referred to as his Emersweet. He is also survived by his brothers and sister Maryjane (Guy) Allee, Tom (Donna) Cassidy, Billy (Kelli) Cassidy, as well as countless nieces, nephews cousins and friends. James was proceeded in death by his parents William John and Donna Jean Cassidy.
