Jane Donohue Battaglia, MD, MA, 80, died Wednesday March 5, after a protracted illness. She was born Jane Barbara Donohue in New York City on April 11, 1932. Jane graduated from Barnard College in 1953 and Yale Medical School in 1957. She interned in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital and her anesthesiology residency years at Yale and at Johns Hopkins where she remained as faculty in anesthesiology until moving to Denver, Co in 1965. While raising her family and practicing medicine, Jane lived, at various times, in Cambridge, England, (1958-1959), in Paris (1978-1979), in Milan (1964-1965) and in Parma (1968). Jane lectured in several languages while abroad, including Chinese, French and Italian. In 1987, after leaving medical practice, she received her Masters degree in theology from St. Thomas Seminary in Denver. She continued on the clinical faculty of the University of Colorado teaching in ethics and humanities. Jane is survived by her husband Fred, her daughter, Susan Kate and her son Thomas. She has one granddaughter, Jessica Harris, and two great grand children, Joseph and Jolee. Visitation is Thursday, March 7th from 6 to 8 PM at Horan & McConaty, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Mass is at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2626 E. 7th Avenue Parkway.
