Jane Akerlow Gibson

February 3, 1931 — September 23, 2009

Jane Helen Akerlow Gibson passed away September 23, 2009 in Englewood, Colorado. She was born February 3, 1931, in Denver, Colorado to Renholt W. Akerlow and Louise Ruck Akerlow. She graduated from South High School in 1949. Jane attended the University of Colorado where she was active with the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelors degree in education. Jane married William Knowlton Gibson in September of 1952. Jane taught preschool and elementary school in both Floss Moore, Illinois and in White Plains, New York. While living in Strongsville, Ohio, she worked as a Mary Kay Director for almost ten years. Jane has always had a strong faith in God and has been active in her Church wherever she resided. She has served as a Prayer Minister for many years at Christ Episcopal Church in Denver. Jane was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Denver; three children, Barbara Ulsund and her husband, Dan, of Seattle, WA.; Dr. William Gibson Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Naples, FL.; and Julie Swank and her husband Tom, or Lawrence, KS.; eight grandchildren, Laura Ulsund Eklund (husband, Matt), William Ulsund, Eric Ulsund, Ryan Gibson, Gregory Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Katie Swank, Michael Swank; and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Maya Ulsund. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26th, 1:00pm, at Christ Episcopal Church, 2950 South University Blvd, Denver, CO 80210.
