Jane Moore Stalder

April 4, 1923 — May 19, 2019

Coach Jane retired from coaching on May 19, 2019. Jane wasn't just an ordinary coach. She was a ""Life Coach"" to so many friends and family - teaching and nurturing them. You always knew that you were an important part of her team. We will miss the ""Coach"" but rejoice that she has ""traded up"" to a greater team in Heaven.

Jane was born on April 4, 1923 in Mattoon, Illinois. She was the daughter of C Loyd Moore and Lillian Moore with a younger brother, Wayne, following her into the household. In 1941 she adventured west to attend the University of Colorado where she achieved academic success and served a year as the President of the Business School and the Theta house. While spending periodic weekends with Anne and Dee Dee Stalder at the Stalder home in Denver, she met Jim Stalder who was a pilot in the Army Air Corps. Although Jim was stationed in New Mexico, he would fly to Denver on the weekends to court Jane. In 1945 Jane graduated from CU and Jim and Jane were married. The marriage thrived and produced three children: Jim, Jeff and Julie.

Much of Jane's life was spent supporting Jim's business as a small developer – contractor. Jim and Jane enjoyed their time off playing golf and skiing. Jane was an avid golfer and fierce competitor. She was a top contender for ladies club champion at Cherry Hills and took home the trophy on one occasion. More importantly, Jane made many lifelong friends through golf and skiing.

Although Jane lost Jim in a tragic plane crash in 1975, she still had the support of her family and friends. Those relationships were strong and enduring and she took great joy and satisfaction in them. Jane generously paid for the college education of her grandchildren - which Jim would have wanted. When she passed on, Jane left behind three children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

It may seem strange to continually see the reference to ""Jane"" when so many of us know her as ""Mimi"". This nickname was given to her by her first grandchild, Lisa Leary. Eventually, it entirely displaced ""Jane"" and became almost universally adopted. Her license plate even bore the name ""Number 1 MIMI"". Whether she is fondly referred to as Jane or, The General, Brown Eyes, Coach, or Mimi, she will always be number one in our book.
