Janet Anthone

July 25, 1931 — November 28, 2020

Denver, Colorado

Janet was born in Omaha, Nebraska; she was the fourth of seven daughters.  She grew up in the St. Cecilia Cathedral area and received her sacraments there; most importantly the sacrament of Matrimony to the love of her life, Henry Anthone, in 1950.  In 1955, Hank and Janet moved to the Benson area, and became quite involved in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, happily raising their growing, active family of 6 healthy children.  In 1969, they moved to Denver Co. and joined Church of the Risen Christ, both becoming EMEs in the church.  Later, Hank and Janet moved on to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.  Hank became Janet's very own EME, taking Holy Communion to her every day as her health failed and she was unable to attend Mass.

One word that best describes our Mom would be dedication...dedication to Dad, dedication to family, and dedication to her strong Catholic faith.  She often spoke of her devotion to St. Jude.  Her faith was never more apparent than these past ten months of serious illness.  She didn't complain of feeling unwell, and often comforted all of us that she was "feeling better' or "doing fine."

Mom was 5'2", eyes of blue, and her spunky spirit was admired by all.  Her beautiful smile was sure to light up any room!  She was the Matriarch of our family.  Her love of life and her love of everything she held close was fierce.  She loved living in Colorado and was quick to point out that she could see the mountains from her kitchen window.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, August and Elizabeth Rosschaert; sisters, Betty, Mildred, Ruthanne, and Jeanne; grandson Andrew Steven.  Survived by beloved husband of 70 years, Hank; children, Barb (Mike) Hoody, Nancy (Walt) Fay, Jim (Jeanne), John (Linda), Dan (Tricia), and Julie (Joe,deceased) Shedron; 12 grandchildren, 18 (soon to be 19) great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Moran and Sally Walsh; brother in law and sister in law, Al and Pat Anthone; many loving nieces and nephews.

We called her Mom.  We called her Grammy.  Now we call her our Angel in Heaven.  The joy and magic of Christmas always held a special place in Mom's heart.  It seems fitting that we are all gathered to celebrate her during this very holy season that she loved.  While Mom is not with us in person, she is definitely with us in spirit.
