Janet L Carson, 89, passed away the morning of April 28, 2020, at Porter Adventist Hospital of Denver.
She was born January 2, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to the late Petuce (Paul) J. Averiett and Bertha M. (Gladman) Averiett.
Janet was wed to Samuel (Sam) R. Carson, Jr., a young musician and Firestone Tire and Rubber Company employee, on October 30, 1948.
While raising her growing family, she went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Akron University, after which she and her husband moved with their family to Colorado.
Her teaching vocation in the Mile-High City began with a primary school turn at Sacred Heart School. Not long after, she garnered a position at Westminster High School, in the town of the same name, where she taught English Literature. During her 20-plus year tenure, she was put in charge of and created the curriculum for the brand-new Minorities Literature program. She would remain in contact with many of her former students long after her retirement in 1990.
Janet will be remembered for many things; chief among them her sense of humor and infectious laugh, her open door nature to all who sought her out for guidance, her warmth of spirit, her perseverance and strength of character, her appreciation of and dedication to the pursuit of education and knowledge.
She was a committed wife, mother, relative and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her late husband of 65 years.
Mourning her passing are her children; Dawn (Charles) Naville, Darwyn (David) Nairne Carson, Samuel R. (Shelley) Carson-III, Eric Carson, Mark Carson, Robyn (Regis) Donovan, Martin Carson, grandchildren; Nicole Naylor, Matthew Roberts, Desmond Donovan, Blaine Donovan, Stevan Carson, Shelby Carson, great-grandchildren; Mariana Naylor, Luke Naylor, Anayla Roberts, Marley Roberts, her brother; Robert R. Averiett of Akron, OH and a host of relatives and friends.
Cherished memories of her will be, forever, held in our hearts and minds.
