Janet Watkins Masoner

May 20, 1934 — March 19, 2018

Janet Watkins Masoner was born May 20, 1934 to Clouris Baker Watkins and Gilbert Watkins, later joined by beloved sister, Lois (1939) in Detroit, Michigan. Parents previously deceased. In 1974 “Jan” married the love of her life, Thayer Eugene Masoner (deceased 2001). Janet is survived by her children, Barbara Paris, Michael Stevens, Victoria Evans (Alan), Kathryn Karns, granddaughters, Raina James and Kathryn Evans Anderson (Nick) and their new daughter, Quinn Evelyn Anderson. Also survived by sister, Lois Matesa and nieces Kelly Pacifico-Loush, Michelle Gregor Brock and their families, as well as extended family and friends. Janet was a successful entrepreneur, accomplished classical pianist and freelance writer. She also was involved in early Colorado Legislation that was restrictive of smoking tobacco in public places. Jan and her husband Thayer, spearheaded a major Fundraiser for the historical preservation of the Welsh Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles. Later in life, she received satisfaction teaching students to play the piano. She loved life and lived it to the fullest extent, enjoying travel, reading, tango dancing, classical music and the arts. She knew the value of joke-telling and laughter and shared with all, making people smile even in her last few days. She was loyal and loving to family and friends.
