Jan, age 51, was called out of this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Jan will be remembered for her generous heart. She accepted and treasured everyone she met, and was always there whenever anyone needed her. Jan grew up with her parents and four brothers in Leawood, Kansas, graduating from Shawnee Mission South High School and Kansas University with a degree in journalism. After completing her education, Jan pursued her passion for skiing in Vail, Colorado for three years before entering the financial services industry in Denver, Colorado where she met her future husband Bill. They were married in 1986 in Leawood, Kansas. Their careers took them to St. Louis, Kansas City and Charlotte for five years each before returning home to Denver in 2001. An accomplished municipal bond trader, Jan retired in 1996 to pursue her passion for photography. She forged a successful practice in weddings and portraiture, but her special gift was dog and horse photography. Jan defeated Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the soft palate in 2005, endured pancreatic surgery in 2006 and fought courageously to bounce back without ever complaining about the challenges life had presented her. She will always be remembered by her loved ones for her tenacity and desire to overcome and survive. Her strength never wavered. Jan is survived by her husband Bill Mitchell; father Joe Neuner and his wife Luanne; mother Emily Roach; brothers Jerry, Steve and Rick Neuner and their families as well as cousins, in-laws and countless friends.
