Janet Elizabeth Shear

Shear, Janet Elizabeth Janet Elizabeth Shear passed away on July 19, 2015 at the age of 86. She was born in Schenectady, New York on August 16, 1928 to Katherine E. (Gass) and Brainard G. Hatch. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady, NY in 1946. She graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1950. She married Harold W. Shear of Schenectady, New York in 1951 in Lawton, Oklahoma while Harold was stationed at Fort Sill. They had four children, two daughters, Katherine and Sandra and twin sons Bruce and Brian. The family lived in France from 1960 to 1963 while Harold served with the US Army Chemical Corp. From 1963 to 1969, the family lived in Virginia near Washington DC as Harold served on the Army General Staff at the Pentagon and with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Janet worked at Cameron Station. The family moved to Colorado in 1969 when Harold was assigned and served as commanding officer of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. Janet worked for Adams County School District 14 food services. She retired in 1991. She was active with the Good Sam's Club and the Daughters of the Nile and participated in hundreds of ""Building of the Flag"" presentations with her husband Harold. Other interests included reading, bowling, spending time at the Shadow Mountain Lake property, traveling and participating in charitable events. Janet was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Northglenn since 1974. She is survived by her two daughters, Katherine Moodie of Waco, Texas, Major Armed Forces (retired), Sandra Kerr of Reno, Nevada; two sons, Bruce Shear of Arvada, Colorado, Brian Shear (Yvonne) of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandchildren Becky Moodie and Robbie Moodie; great granddaughter, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and most recent faithful canine companion, Theo. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother and sister, her husband Harold, her grandson Doug and her son-in-law Dave Kerr. Janet will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Memorial Service, Tuesday, July 28, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
