Janet Swank Union

Janet Ramona Swank Union passed away at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Denver, Colorado October 20, 2020. Janet was born December 10, 1941 at home in Penokee, Kansas. She married Norman Union on November 3, 1979.

Janet had a special relationship with all her family, especially her husband Norman. Janet and Norm started Norm’s Printing in 1982, which is still in operation. In March 1988 they started the Commerce City Beacon Newspaper, where she and Norman were the owners and publishers.  She enjoyed knowing the people of Commerce City and reporting on news and events in the area. She belonged to many clubs and organizations in Commerce City and volunteered her time. Janet also enjoyed going on rides to the mountains or staying in their mountain getaway.

Janet was preceded in death by her daughter Sarah Union in August 1997, her Father Milton Swank, and her Mother Margaret Swank.

She is survived by husband Norman Union, brother Robert (Mary) Swank of Keenesburg, sister Barbara McMillan of Commerce City, sister Carol Roubidoux (Russ) of Keenesburg, and brother Walter Swank of Brighton, and Lois Kaplan, Norm's sister. Janet also had numerous nieces and nephews and a great many great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held October 29, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home in Thornton, Colorado. Services are limited because of Covid. Service will be available to live-streaming at HoranCares.com. Burial Service will be held at a later date and will be private.

A donation may be made to Commerce City Historical Society.
