Janet Lynne Taylor

Janet Lynne Newendorp was born on June 19, 1950, in Orange City, IA to Vernon and Margaret. She was the 5th of 6 kids and grew up in Alton, IA. She was a proud Floyd Valley Thunderbird and graduated in 1968. Janet then attended college at the University of Iowa before transferring to business school in Spencer. 

Janet met Gene Taylor in 1970 at the Roof Top Gardens in Arnold’s Park and they were married on August 21, 1971 in her home town of Alton. Matthew was born in September of 1972 and the family of 3 moved to Denver in 1973. Sarah was born in 1977 and a few years later they purchased their home in Lakewood where Jan resided until her passing. Her beloved grandsons, Jacob and Wesley, were born in 1999 and 2002 respectively and her favorite great grand puppy Margot Aurelia joined the family in 2020.

Janet enjoyed her career in Legal Accounting and worked for several large firms in downtown Denver until her retirement in 2016.

Janet lived a life full of adventure and joy. She LOVED to travel with her family and was able to visit so many places she never dreamed she would see. She was an avid reader and a die-hard Colorado Avalanche fan. She loved to hike and spend time in the mountains or do anything else outdoors. She was passionate about music and passed that love on to both of her children. None of those things compare, though, to the joy she got from spoiling her grandchildren. 

Janet is survived by her beloved husband, Gene; her son, Matthew; her daughter, Sarah; her grandsons, Jacob and Wesley; her cherished great grand puppy, Margot and brother David Newendorp (Debra). She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Margaret Newendorp, brother Jim Newendorp, and sisters Donna Lansman, Judi Armstrong and Barb Boeyink.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00AM at Horan and McConaty, located at 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227, to honor and celebrate Janet's beautiful life. The service will be followed by reception and the time to greet and share memories, immediately following the service, also at Horan & McConaty.
