Janice Eileen “Jan” Herron passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the age of 80 in Arvada, Colorado.
Jan was born on January 15, 1945, in Willmar, Minnesota. The youngest of three children, she grew up on a farm near Raymond, MN and graduated from Raymond High School in 1963. She studied nursing in Willmar and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her nursing career included pediatric care and ophthalmology.
On January 20, 1968, Jan married John Herron. They were married for fifty-seven years and lived in El Paso, Texas, Minneapolis, MN, and after coming to Colorado in 1979, Broomfield, Lyons and Arvada.
Jan was active in caring for her family and others. She provided foster care for newly born babies prior to adoption while living in Broomfield. She was proficient at quilting and sewing. An excellent baker, she baked her famous chocolate chip cookies and brownies among other goodies. She enjoyed traveling in the American Southwest and especially loved the art and culture of New Mexico.
Jan was predeceased by her parents and her brother Donald. She is survived by her husband John, sons Christoper (Piper) and Daniel (Aileen), her grandsons Parker, Brady, Jack and Hank, her sister Dorothy of Minneapolis and six nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on June 21, 2025, 10AM at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service at 7577 W 80th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 300, Chamberlain, SD 57325 or to charity of your choice.
