Janice Mary Snorteland passed away December 30, 2016. Janice was born November 5, 1945 in Minot, ND to Albert and Gertrude (Schumacher) Smetana. Jan is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Snorteland, sons Nathan (Dawn) and Eric, brothers George, Allan (Lynell), and Paul (Nadia), several nieces and nephews, and by an uncle, Robert Smetana. Bob and Jan were married for 47 years. Jan graduated from High School in Lansford, ND; graduated from Minot State College and received her MBA from the University of Denver. Jan lived in the Denver area for many years and volunteered for more than twenty years for the Cherry Creek School District, where she served on the Accountability Committee. Jan enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb, both in her garden and in her nurturing of people. She had a deep appreciation for nature and an enduring love of flowers, particularly the Columbines that filled her back yard. Utah Park was always cleaner after she walked through. She was a kind and caring mother, wife, sister, and aunt. She always had a smile that she shared with neighbors, friends, and family. She was a master home plumber and electrician. Her recipe book is highly coveted; particularly the dessert tab. The family will spend many years attempting to learn her secrets for making divinity. Services will be held at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO (800) 475-4418 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Denver Hospice or the Kathi Shogren Memorial Fund for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Please give your condolences to the Snorteland family.
