Janis Darlene Haeberle

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and friend, Janis Darlene Haeberle, passed away on February 8, 2020 at the age of 70. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Janis was born on August 31, 1949 to William and Florence Reed, in Cody, Wyoming. She was the youngest of four children and only daughter. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Cody High School. She continued her schooling at the University Of Wyoming. There she met the love of her life, Steve Haeberle and married him in June of 1969. They went off to start their life as young entrepreneurs and opened the Cowboy Café in Wheatland, Wyoming. This was the best donut shop in town, and there they learnd the hard life of small business owners and all of the early 4 am mornings. They sold that business for a profit and moved on to help Steve’s family’s real estate business. There Janis learned how to fix and flip houses and make them feel like homes. They brought a bubbly baby boy into their world , and gave him a great name, Quincy. Later they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and there they added another child to their family and named her Crystal. It was the best of both worlds because now they had a son and a daughter. Soon after they moved their family to the big city of Denver, Colorado. There they raised their kids and Janis went back to school to finish her accounting degree. She soon landed a great job at Life Partners Group and climbed the ladders in corporate America. Moving on she worked for various accounting firms and ended her career at Brown Brothers Harriman. She worked for them for 22 years. As a hard working mother of two she also faced many health challenges throughout her life including a heart valve replacement and battled two kinds of cancers.

Janis enjoyed the simple things in life, like rock hunting and picking wildflowers, gardening, and baking. She was a crafty soul that could turn someone’s junk into a treasure. She worked on her home to make it her own. She would pour through magazines for inspiration, so she could put her touch on her bargain finds that she found at the local shops. She love spending time with her friends and family and hosted many parties and gatherings. She never wanted to be the center of attention, but loved to work her magic in the kitchen and try new recipes that everyone enjoyed. She had a special place in her heart for her animals, she specially loved cuddling with her cats on a cold winter’s day. Her bff dog, Cinnamon stayed by her side always. The joy of her life was when she welcomed her grandson, Leo into her heart, they shared a special bond and she had the best back rubs and they read funniest books together. Janis loved watching Leo’s football games, band concerts and school musicals, she also love dancing with him in the kitchen. Her other joy in her life is when she got to spend time with Talayna her granddaughter, she really enjoyed going to see her dance performances and her lacrosse games. She loved Talayna’s beautiful smile. Janis taught both of her kids the value of hard work and encouraged them to never give up when life gets you down. A quote she stood by was “When we recognize that nothing has to go right for us to be happy, and that people do not have to behave for us to love them, our walk home can become surprisingly simple.” One of her biggest passions was working in her yard, she had flowers in every corner. Every year she would add a few perennials to the collection, she would plant for a couple of days, she had about 20 planter and pots around her yard, she would fill them with a wide variety of plants and a wonderful range of colors. This brought much joy to her and was a way that she used to destress from the busy world. She loved working in her yard and called it her own piece of paradise.

Janis leaves behind her two children, Quincy and Crystal, her two grandchildren, Leo and Talayna, her three brothers, Billy, Larry, and Joe, two amazing sister-in-laws, many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins and all of her loving friends. Janis has a few people waiting for her in heaven: her parents William and Florence Reed, husband Steve, mother-in-law, Zoe and sister-in-law, Norma.

Services are planned at the Horan & McConaty Centennial Family Chapel located at 5303 East County Line Road on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 with a viewing at 1:30, services at 2:30 with a reception to follow at the County Line Reception Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
