Jared Bird became a member of the Denver Police family on January 17, 2006 and graduated from the Police Academy on July 14, 2006. Officer Bird was assigned to District Three and worked on Detail One until his death. Officer Bird worked as a manager at Dairy Queen prior to becoming a Denver police officer but had always wanted to be a cop. Officer Bird was recognized by the Academy staff, the District Three Field Training Officers, supervisors, command and his fellow officers as an excellent officer, who always displayed a positive attitude and appearance. Officer Bird was known for possessing outstanding knowledge of department policies and procedures, and for always being compassionate towards citizens and the public. Officer Bird sucessfully completed the field training program and was assigned as a solo police officer on October 21, 2006. Officer Bird received a Bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in economics. His hobbies included fitness and canine training. Precious and Beloved son of Pamela Lovato and Myron Joe Bird. Officer Bird went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 18, 2007. He is survived by his mother Pamela; his stepmother Cathy Bird; grandmothers, Georgia Frink and Mary Frances Brisco; sisters, Wynne Bird and Shana Lovato; brothers Myron Bruce Bird and Bryan Bird; other survivors include a niece, numerous nephews and extended family and friends.
