Jason Philip Aschenbrenner, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025. He was 50 years old.
Born on October 7, 1974, to Phillip and Phyllis Aschenbrenner, Jason was raised in Westminster, Colorado. After graduating from Westminster High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University. Jason’s love of emergency medicine and natural leadership skills helped him to build a highly successful career in medicine, which included 13 years working in the ICU, where he served as Charge Nurse, and nearly 15 years working in kidney dialysis. For the last 12 years, he served as the Clinic Manager at Kidney Center of Northridge.
Jason was a great lover of the outdoors and spent his life exploring every corner of his favorite state - Colorado. A proud Eagle Scout, avid fisherman, and camping enthusiast, he was an example to friends and family on how to relish in the peace that nature can bring. Throughout his life, Jason taught others - including his young nieces and nephews - important outdoor skills like how to bait a hook, set up a tent, mow a lawn, install a sprinkler system, and relax with a good meal enjoyed lakeside at sunset.
Jason married his beloved wife, Melissa Capps, on July 14, 2012, among the beautiful Colorado mountain pines in Genesee. He fulfilled a lifelong dream on February 15, 2014, with the birth of his cherished daughter, Bailey Grace. Jason prized family most of all, and devoted his life to providing for Melissa and Bailey in the best way he could. Together, they enjoyed traveling the world, particularly cruising in warm, tropical climates.
An accomplished swimmer, fisherman, lover of travel, connoisseur of good German food, and a die-hard Broncos fan, Jason thrived most when he was serving others. Calm in a crisis and gentle by nature, he was ideally suited to his role as a registered nurse and an incredible father to his “Pumpkin,” who dubbed him “the best daddy in the whole world.” Jason’s deep faith in his Heavenly Father led him to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2022. Jason, Melissa, and Bailey were sealed together as a family for time and all eternity in the Fort Collins temple on April 22, 2023.
Jason is survived by his wife Melissa and their 11-year-old daughter Bailey Grace, parents Phillip and Phyllis Aschenbrenner, sister Molly Cozad (Jeff), and numerous nieces and nephews.
