Jean Righter Bolle, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2016, following a brief illness, at age 87. She is survived by her two children and three grandchildren. Jean was born in Philadelphia, PA, the only child of Ann and Price Righter. She graduated from Hood College in Frederick, MD, with a degree in political science and history. She then worked as a legal secretary in Detroit before entering Wayne State Law School and subsequently left in her senior year to marry Ed, a decision she never regretted. They were married in 1957 and spent 59 loving years together before he passed away in January, 2016. Jean cared deeply for others in many ways. As a college student she organized a boycott of the local movie theater to protest and eliminate segregated seating. As a young mother she began her lifelong volunteer career in a hospital emergency room and then in a nursing home. She was active in many Denver community organizations including the Central City Opera Guild, the Symphony Guild, and Kent Denver School. She was the first volunteer at Metro Caring (formerly Metro CareRing) and also served as president of the board. She was active at Central Presbyterian Church including serving as president of the congregation, moderator of Presbyterian Women, and a teacher of the Bethel Bible Series. She had a special place in her heart for her college and was honored by Hood College recently for her generous contributions and support. Jean had an active mind and always had a book in hand. She especially enjoyed history and researching sites that she and Ed visited on their many travels abroad. She was a fabulous cook and instilled in her children a love for the culinary arts. Her expertise and warm hospitality for dinner parties in her home are legendary. She excelled in many fields including needlepoint, cross stitch, and weaving. She was a formidable bridge player and over the years donated her winnings (in stacks of $1 bills) to Metro Caring. Jean loved puzzles and board games, and everyone wanted her on their team. She was an avid sports enthusiastic who never missed a Broncos game or tennis match on TV. Jean had an abiding faith in God. In emergencies and in times of stress she remained calm and accepting while moving forward in practicality. She was grateful for every day of her full and interesting life. Until the end she expressed her appreciation to her family, friends, and acquaintances. She always put others first. She will be remembered for her unselfish spirit, warm friendship, keen sense of humor, and for her enduring faith. Jean is survived by her daughter, Christine Curtis Bolle-Kim of Glendale, CA, her son, Douglas Price Bolle and daughter-in-law Susie Bolle of Las Vegas, NV, and her three adored granddaughters, Diana, Gabby, and Kate. There will be a celebration of Jean's life at Montview Presbyterian Church, 1980 Dahlia St., on June 16 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception at The Denver Country Club, 1700 East First Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts in Jean's memory to Metro Caring, 1100 E. 18th Ave., Denver, CO 80203.
