Jean L. Powers, 76, of Northglenn died quietly Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at home after a long illness. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald R. Powers and children, Sharon (Jim) Varner; Shirley (Greg) Brush; Donald T. Powers (Ruth Buniger); Sandra (Rob) Greathouse; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, sister-in-law Carolyn Lankford, nephew Roger Lankford. She is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and neices on her husband's side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eileen Lankford, her brothers Harold and Melvin, and three nephews. Jean was born on December 28, 1933 in Gary, Indiana. She was a 1952 graduated of Lew Wallace High School. In 1951, Donald Powers came into her life and they were married February 13, 1952. She worked at Walgreen's as a pharmacy technician and retired after 25 years. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Her caring nature extended to all who knew her. She enjoyed geneology, quilting, crafts, stamp collecting and post card collecting. Her happiest times were family times. Visitation will be Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Horan & McConaty from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Services will be at Horan and McConaty at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010. Interment will be at Olinger's Highland Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Contributions may be made to Leukemia Society or Association for Retarded Citizens.
