Born April 17, 1926, in Denver, passed away peace-fully at home the morning of April 16 after a recent diagnosis of advanced lung cancer. Jean, Second Generation Colorado Native, grew up in Park Hill at 1900 Colorado Blvd. Graduated from East High School and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education in Boston, MA. Daughter of Dr. Glen Evan Cheley, Ruth (Higgins) Sister of BA Brusse (Martin), Patty Lou Pate (Dick) and Bob Cheley. Jean celebrated her 56th wedding anniversary with Harold on April 4, 2011. Beloved Mother of Tim (Carey) and Amy Reigan. Proud ""Gram"" of Amy, Glenn and Allen. Cherished ""Ant"" of Louise, Kate, Meredith, Nancy, Bill, Carol, Mike, Glen, Debi and their children. Jean was a gifted artist & gardener. A prankster, devoted friend, swim team Mom at Eisenhower Park, volunteer, environmentalist and champion for the underdog. She once described herself as a bridge. Jean had an uncanny ability to reach out her hand and help people from one place in life ""over the bridge"" to the next road life had to offer. Her heroes included Gandhi, The Dalia Lama, Mother Theresa, Albert Einstein, The American Indian and Harry Wu. Memorial Service, Saturday, April 30, 2011, 3:00 pm at Horan & McConaty, 1901 South Colorado Blvd. Denver, CO 80246. Internment Ft. Logan National Cemetery and the Majestic Colorado Rockies.
