Jeanne Marie Aiello passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home on April 18, 2024 at the age of 93. Jeanne Marie (nee: Scott) Aiello was born on January 10, 1931 in Newburgh, New York to Kenneth & Margaret (nee: Doulin) Scott.
Jeanne attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and then entered Mount St. Mary’s Academy. She was active in student government and graduated in 1948 with honors.
She went to work for Sears & Roebuck in Newburgh in the accounting department as a payroll clerk. It was there she met the love of her life, Joseph Peter Aiello. They began a brief courtship, married on October 29, 1950, and began a family that would grow to seven children over the next 22 years.
In December of 1965, Jeanne & Joe moved the family from New Windsor, New York to 7th and Humboldt Street in Denver.
Jeanne was a loving mother who adored children, especially babies. After raising her own family, she took care of many of the neighbors’ children while their parents worked.
She was an avid reader and loved mysteries, especially Agatha Christie. The 1940’s Big Band sound and Frank Sinatra were her favorites. Jeanne mastered the Aiello family recipes and passed them down to her daughters.
A beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor is how she will be remembered by all who knew her. She was loved by everyone, especially those who cared for her in her later years.
She fulfilled a lifelong dream in 2007 when she visited Ireland with her daughters and sons-in-law. She has requested that her family hold a good, old-fashioned Irish wake in her honor and that “Everyone should get a snootful!”.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Aiello, after 51 years of marriage, and her beloved grandson, Chad Aiello. She is survived by her seven children; Barbara (James) Allen; Joseph Aiello; Jeanne (Don Bates) Aiello; Peter (K.D.) Aiello; Rich (Kate) Aiello; Chris Aiello; & Ken (Tina) Aiello. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's hospital, a cause close to Jeanne's heart.Wednesday, May 1, 2024
