Jeanne Greer

Jeanne Norton Greer, age 91, passed away May 12, 2023 in Cheyenne, Wyoming with her daughter by her side. She was born to Jesse Eugene and Vera Mae Richardson, the second of three daughters. Jeanne grew up in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She attended North Texas State University for an art education, University of Houston for special education, and Red Rocks Community College for business studies.

Jeanne lived in Houston, Texas for 18 years. For three of those years, she worked with special needs children. After moving to Idaho Springs, Colorado she became a member of the Lakewood Elks Club and volunteered at Swedish Hospital. A huge animal lover, with cats being especially dear to her, she enjoyed volunteering at Charlie’s Animal Shelter in Dumont (and feeding any strays that wandered onto her porch). But one of her proudest accomplishments was being an owner and sponsor with her partner and sweetheart Ron Hill, of the Rendezvous Singles Dance for eleven years.

Through the years she enjoyed skiing, dancing, working in the yard, riding motorcycles, painting, camping, traveling, and spending time with her family. For 47 years she lived in a 150-year-old Victorian home in her beloved Colorado mountains. She could always be found sitting on one of the swings on the wrap around porch with a cup of coffee and her cat in her lap, welcoming anyone who stopped by to say hello. After a decline in health, she moved to Cheyenne, WY in order to be closer to her daughter.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Richardson, sisters Francis Nell La Cour and Karen Dianne Payne, first husband Bill Hardin, second husband Hoyt Greer, and sweetheart Ron Hill. She is survived by her daughter,  Marynn and son-in-law Randy, daughter, Vanessa and son-in-law Tom; step-daughters Kay and Pam; grandchildren: Jeremy and his wife Chrystal, Crystal and her husband Patrick, Taylor, and Victoria; step-grandchildren Kari, Beau, Todd, and Michael; great-grandchildren Lillyanna, Gracelyn, Paige, and Irelynn.

Her service will be held May 27, 2023, at 11AM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd.,  Lakewood, Colorado.
