Jeanne Elizabeth Vincent Lynett died in Denver on December 2, 2017, at the age of 95. Jeanne was born on July 10, 1921, and was a native of the Denver Parkhill neighborhood. She graduated from East High School in 1940 and from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 as a registered nurse. Jeanne served as a nurse for the employees working on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee until 1945, as her way to contribute to the war effort. She returned to nursing in 1963 after raising her family. She was one of the first graduates of the Geriatric Nursing Program at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and worked for several eldercare facilities until her retirement in 1990. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Holly Heights Care Center where she served as a member of the Residentsâ Counsel. Her good humor in the face of the challenges of old age inspired her family and many members of the Holly Heights staff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Philip M. Groves (Jim); her grandchildren Elizabeth Stertz, Katherine Bergman, Brad Lynett, Chris Lynett, Joseph Fijol, Kerry Barber, Kelly West, Matthew Groves, Mark Groves and Ellen Groves. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated for family and close friends at Saint Francis de Sales Church in Denver. Interment will be later at Fort Logan National Cemetery, where she will be reunited with husband Phil. The family asks for donations in Jeanneâs honor to The Gabriel Project, Catholic Charities, and Community Services, 6240 Smith Road, Denver, CO 80216 in lieu of flowers.
