Jeffrey Karl Adams

Jeffrey Karl Adams died on Thursday, May 27, 2010 after a year-long battle against prostate cancer. Jeff was born in Greeley, Colorado on August 5th, 1950. He attended school in Greeley, where he excelled in academics and sports at Greeley Central High, continuing on to earn an undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Colorado and advanced degrees at the University of Colorado. Jeff enjoyed his long career as an executive for several insurance and financial services companies. Jeff was a skilled golfer and a member of Perry Park Country Club, where he achieved a hole-in-one in 2006. He loved music and the performing arts and enthusiastically supported Opera Colorado. Jeff was preceded in death by his father Karl Adams and his half-brother Barry Adams. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Barbara and Don Girnt; wife Susan Adams; son Sean Adams; stepson and daughter-in-law Jason and Amy Chaney; and granddaughter Kennedy Adams. Jeff also leaves behind an extended family on his wife's side, who embraced him as a beloved member of their family. Everyone who knew Jeff in his various activities loved his enthusiasm for life, valued his advice, appreciated his many kindnesses and considered him a good friend. Over the past few years Jeff has served on the Council of Advisors for the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, on the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee for the University of Colorado Foundation, and on the Board of Directors for the Marion Downs Hearing Center. He encouraged and helped many young people pursue excellence in higher education. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 4, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado.
