Jeffrey Allan Clayburn

May 4, 1962 — August 22, 2010

CLAYBURN, JEFFREY ALLAN On August 22, 2010, we lost our beloved Jeff to a tragic accident. Everyone who met Jeff loved him. He had the most beautiful dimples and a great, quick wit. He was funny and warm, personable, helpful, generous with his time and his love, kind and always seeking answers to the complicated questions life put before him. Jeff loved riding his motorcycle, body building and working out, he loved cars, music, children and he was a deeply spiritual man. He loved God. He loved his family. He sought meaning, happiness and fulfillment for his life and those around him. His goal was to always show appreciation, gratefulness, generosity, and cheerfulness. If he could display these qualities and live his life ever mindful of these things, his life would take on a new meaning. He wanted to live his life without resentment. He desired a life full of love, warmth and affection that would radiate to everyone who met him. He was accomplishing these goals. Jeff was born on May 4, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. His family moved to Denver when he was four. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School where his passion for sports led him to join the wrestling team. One of Jeff's greatest moments in life was the birth of his daughter Jazmyne Arteese, on August 21, 1984. He was very cautious and tender when it came to holding her. Diaper changing was always a challenge. Jazmyne's memories of Daddy were of him watching her in the park, visiting her in Houston and being able to always ask him any question. Without hesitation, Jeff would always provide help and answers. Jazmyne thrilled her Dad in many ways. Two being her graduation from Hampton University in 2006, and by giving birth to his only grandchild Gisselle Olivia, on April 17, 2008. When Gigi was born, along with the joy of it, the caution again began. Jeff began working early in life. While working at King Soopers, he met Joél Keys. They began dating and quickly fell in love. Jeff put much planning into proposing to Joél. He wanted to have her engagement ring placed inside a balloon and blown up with helium. Needless to say, he could not find anyone willing to do it, so he tied the ring to a teddy bear and across balloons wrote the words ""will you marry me?"" Joél did not see the writing or the ring, so Jeff had to walk across the room and rearrange everything for her to see. Jeff and Joél married on May 23, 1987. They enjoyed spending time together, traveling, attending concerts, and just having fun. Jeff was an entrepreneur who owned and operated his own business for more than 20 years. He enjoyed learning to play the guitar, martial arts, and recently line dancing. He was also working on becoming an airbrush artist for automobiles. He lived his life recognizing the importance of being healthy, wealthy and wise. Jeff enjoyed reading, and was constantly and diligently expanding his knowledge of the Bible and learning new things about himself. Jeff is survived by his wife Joél Delyce, his daughter Jazmyne Arteese Greene (John) Dickens, his granddaughter Gisselle Olivia Dickens, his mother Leonna June Clayburn, his father Gilbert Leon Clayburn Sr., his siblings, Gilbert Leon (Janice) Clayburn, Jr. of Denver, CO; Vicki Leslie Andrews of San Diego, CA; Brian Keith Clayburn of Chicago, IL and Lisa Diane (Robert) Moulder of Austin, TX. He also leaves his grandmother Geraldine Otha McKay and is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
