Jeffrey Lynn Groce

Jeffrey Lynn Groce, 63, died November 4, 2018, at his home in Littleton, Colorado, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, at Horan and McConaty in Lakewood, Colorado.

Jeff was born December 31, 1954, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, to Frank and Mary Diehl Groce. The family relocated to Golden, Colorado, where Jeff attended high school. After graduating, Jeff joined the Air Force and was stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he met his wife, Linda Sue Tystad. They were married June 12, 1976. After Jeff left the service, they made their home in Sheridan, Wyoming, where they were active members of the Sheridan Wesleyan Church and raised their two children. Jeff spent 20-plus years working as a plumber, and was known for his ability to MacGyver anything. He eventually moved to a position as a boiler plant operator for the VA hospital in Sheridan, where he worked until illness forced him to retire in 2008. Jeff and Linda moved to Littleton, Colorado, in 2014 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Jeff loved the outdoors and took his family on many adventures, including hiking, backpacking, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, caving, skiing, canoeing, and snowshoeing. He loved riding horses and motorcycles, and watching Westerns and action movies, and he was always up for a trip to Dairy Queen. He also loved to play cards, particularly 500, and was known for his outlandish but mostly successful bids.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Tyler, and his wife, Erin, and their two boys, Finn and Weston; daughter, Haley Berry; brother, Ken (wife, Chris); brother, Jim (wife, Cindy); brother, Sam (wife, Tammy); and sister, Susie Wells (husband, Rick).
