Jeffrey Thomas McLane Born at the USAF Academy, 12 October 1983 Jeff passed away unexpectedly on 23 February, 2006. He is survived by his parents, Bruce and Teri McLane, who currently reside in Grainau, Germany; his sister, Allison, of Denver; his brother, Chris, a student at Colorado State University; and his grandparents Walter and Betty McLane of Larkspur, Colorado. Jeff was a student at the Colorado Institute of Art, where he was studying culinary arts. He was the son of a career Air Force officer and, as a result, lived in many places throughout the United States and Europe, to include 10 years in Belgium. He was a graduate of St John's International School in Waterloo, Belgium, where he was known by all as a fun loving and generous friend. He especially enjoyed baseball and became the Captain of the St John's baseball team his senior year. Jeff was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved camping and high adventure and was fortunate to attend Philmont Scout Camp in 1997, and Kandersteg World Scout Camp, in Kandersteg, Switzerland in 2000. Jeff loved many outdoors activities and could often be found snowboarding on the Colorado slopes, or fly fishing on the Taylor River. While living in Belgium he was very active in Club Beyond, a Christian youth group, and generously gave of his time on service projects. One such project that was especially meaningful to Jeff was a week long project helping young children in the Czech Republic. Though taken from us too soon, Jeff will be remembered by family and friends as a kind and generous young man, who always had a smile for everyone. We will miss him greatly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeff's name to Outpost Expeditions, P.O. Box 63902, Colorado Springs, CO 80962 to support the work of Tim and Pam Mobley. Alternatively, for anyone living in Europe who may wish to make a donation, donations can be made directly to Mr. Tim Mobley, Albert I Laan 4, 1560 Hoeilaart, Belgium.
