Jennifer Doell

January 20, 1953 — July 16, 2022

Jennifer Lynn (Wolfer) Doell passed peacefully from this earth on the morning of July 16th, 2022, at the age of 69. A woman renowned for her energetic love of family and devotion to friends, she will be missed deeply by many.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Norma and Stanley Wolfer, Jennifer was number four in their line of fourteen children.  She shined especially bright when at the center of a boisterous family gathering. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1975 from The Ohio State University.  While studying, she built a lifelong community of Delta Gamma sisters with whom to share the ups and downs of life and Buckeye football. After graduation she headed west to seek her future in Denver, by way of a fun ‘layover’ in Aspen, Colorado.

A sense of adventure always brought great joy to Jennifer. After meeting the love of her life, Dr. Michael Doell, in 1981, the two threw themselves into some of life’s wildest experiences: marriage, parenthood and a move to Sheridan, Wyoming. Dr. Doell had a practice in obstetrics and gynecology while Jennifer worked as a WIC Nurse and a prenatal instructor. They enjoyed 10 fond years, and the addition of four children, before returning to Colorado Springs in the summer sunshine of 1992.

Jennifer helped to instill a love of outdoor activities in her family and enjoyed golf camping, skiing, fishing, hiking, biking, tennis, travel and just about any way that one could embrace the great outdoors.

A gatherer among her tribe of many devoted friends, Jennifer organized book clubs, moving outings, Superbowl parties, Thanksgiving feasts and numerous events far too many to list. She loved to entertain, but mostly she warmly welcomed any and all into her home and her life. She gave time generously and found immense joy in being an active member and supporter of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival.

Jennifer loved nothing more than her family time. She was blessed having her four loving, devoted children and their significant others as constants in her life. Not to mention the highlight of her final years: doting on her two grandchildren, Kennedy Rae, age 10, and Michael Woodrow, age 3.

She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Dr. Michael Edward Doell and beloved brothers Ronald and Roger. She is survived by her children: Chelsey Elizabeth, Ryan Edward (Alyssa), Cameron Michael (Ashley) and Molly Margaret, siblings: Joseph(Donna), Barbara (Reinhard Kalbli), Richard (Beverly), George (Christine), Sheila, Timothy (Julie), Amy (Ron Filkins), Kristina (Jon Weiss), Mary (Chad Jenkins), Regina (Tom Martin) and Angel, along with nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews too numerous to name, though she loved every one of them.  She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Susan (Margaret Casey) Doell of Palos Verdes, CA and brother-in-law, Patrick (Linda) Doell of Honolulu, HI.

There will be a funeral mass in Colorado Springs honoring Jennifer’s life on August 2nd, 2022 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church followed by a reception at The Pinery at the Hill.  All are welcome to attend.
