Jerry was born December 24th, 1943 at Copley Hospital in Aurora, Illinois. Jerry attended Beaupre Elementary, Waldo Jr. High, East Aurora High School and graduated in 1962. While growing up Jerry was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church and as a teen he won a church award and was able to meet the Olympic Medalist, track and field athlete, Jessie Owens. When Jerry was 16 years old, he had to have open heart surgery for a Congenital Heart Defect. It took over a year for the hospital to plan the surgery and the local papers put out ads for blood donations. Luckily, the day of the original surgery a doctor had noticed that the machine was broken and thankfully they had not hooked Jerry up to this machine which would have killed him. Jerry came through the surgery well but unfortunately contracted Hepatitis C from the blood donation. After graduation, Jerry worked at Copley Hospital as a cook and while working there he met and dated the children's mother Sharon Thomas. In early 1965, Jerry joined the Army and left behind his first love, a 65 Silver Pontiac GTO. He was very lucky to never have gotten arrested during his many drag races on local streets (what a rebel). He later that year married his other first love Sharon. The following year after Jerry completed basic training in Ft. Knox, KY., Jerry and Sharon were stationed in Asaka, Japan where Jerry worked at a military hospital as a cook. The following year Jerry and Sharon had their first child Jeff. Jerry loved the Japanese country and culture and he invested in some art pieces and electronics while stationed there. Later that year in 1969, Sharon returned to Illinois with 6 month old Jeff, and Jerry later followed but not back to Illinois after completing his time in the Army but instead found a home for the 3 of them in Colorado! Jerry and Sharon found out in 1970 that they were expecting twins, one boy and one girl which is what Jerry really wanted. During Sharon's pregnancy with the twins, Jerry went to Jet Mechanic School and completed his training in 1972 but unfortunately the following year Jerry and Sharon divorced. Upon completing his training, Jerry found a job Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin). Jerry worked at Lockheed Martin for 25 years until he was laid off from his last position as Configuration Management Analyst (Data Mgmt). During his time at Lockheed Martin Jerry met Cynthia Fleming many times at the local copy machine and started dating for several years until the kids told him he better marry Cynthia because he had dated her long enough!! Jerry and Cynthia were married on September 17th, 1983 in Lakewood, CO. After Jerry's lay off, he decided to go back to school and get an Associates degrees in Medical Records. As he was completing his degree and was going to be working for Swedish Hospital in Medical Records, Jerry found out he needed a pace maker and that he had prostate cancer. Jerry stayed on at Swedish Hospital until about a year. Following Swedish Hospital Jerry had different jobs but his favorite was working at Caboose Hobbies! While working there Jerry decided to start building his own life size train set in his basement, where it will remaining for his children, their spouses and grandchildren to complete. Jerry and Cynthia had just had their 35th Anniversary before Jerry's passing. Cynthia was the love of Jerry's life next to his children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
