We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Jerome Anthony Mallon Sr., Aka Jerry Mallon (94). Jerry passed on July 20th in the Littleton Adventist Hospital, from a broken hip inflicted on July 9th. Jerry was a long-time resident of Heather Gardens in Aurora Colorado, and Littleton during his parenting years. Jerry had 5 children and two loves of his life. The children are Janie Mallon Friedrichs (CO), Jerome (Tony) Anthony Mallon Jr. (deceased), Danny Charles Mallon (CO), Maureen Louise Mallon (CO), and John Cannon Mallon (CA). For the past 15 years he was in love with his BFF (Best Friend Forever) Glenda Pitts (CO), and previously with the mother of his children Barbara Mallon Dittenber (Deceased). Jerry was born in Baltimore and raised in Washington D.C, and Alexandria Virginia. Primary places of residence were Washington D.C., Denver CO, St Louis (MO), Ft Worth (TX), Sacramento (CA), Seattle (WA).
Jerry lived a very long and vibrant life. He was deeply loved by his family, and his friends due to his passion for life, and genuine care for all those in his life.
The following is a short history of his life events.
At Heather Gardens, Jerry was a member of the acting and singing Frolics club, where he had many lead roles. Jerry and Glenda were members of the First Saturday Night Dance Club for 8 years. They both attended many painting classes and became artists of great skill. They traveled to Great Britain to visit homeland Country of Tyron! Then cruises to Hawaii, all Caribbean Islands, Panama Canal, Barbados, Alaska, then by train from Steward to Fairbanks, seaplane in Juneau to see many Glaciers! They also visited the Cherry Blossom Festivities in D.C his birthplace.
Jerry was a true renaissance man with his many interests. He played piano, was both a painter and a sculptor, a talented draftsman and sketch artist, avid tennis player, and above all he was a highly accomplished dancer. Jerry learned all forms of dance and cherished the way it filled him with Joy. In fact, early in his retirement he enlisted with a cruise line to be a dance instructor. He was so happy traveling, seeing the world, enjoying great food, and dancing with a large variety of women.
Professionally he was an accomplished Mechanical Engineer (BS), and Aeronautics Engineer certification. Over those years he worked at Lockheed Aero med, McDonnell Aircraft, Martin Marietta, General Dynamics, Boing, Sterns-Rogers, Frontier Airlines, Piedmont Airline, and Eva Airlines. He obtained the FAA Engineer License and the Colorado Professional Engineer certification.
As an employee of Frontier Airlines for many years, he took his family on spectacular trips to Barbados twice, Hawaii Twice, and Mexico. These were incredible memory making trips, Jerry loved giving these experiences to his family.
Jerry worked very hard to make sure that his family was provided for but enjoyed the journey along the way. It was not easy for him as his father (John J. Mallon) was deceased when Jerry was 10, and his mother (Martha H Miller Mallon) when he was 23. During Jerry’s years as a teenager, he cared for his terminally ill mother, and was raised by his brother. He scratched and clawed to become qualified for university level. Then he was drafted and spent time in the Military in WW2 as part of their pre aeronautics program and became an accomplished boxer. When he left, he had the GI Bill, the blessing in his life that propelled him to Virginia Tech where he obtained his bachelor’s in civil engineering.
