Jerry Crowder

November 8, 1935 — May 8, 2011

Jerry Crowder, 75, died Sunday May 8th, with his family by his side. He was loved by many and is survived by; his wife of 47 years Kathy, daughters Chris Asher and Jennifer Bridges, Sons-in-law Jim Asher and Dale Bridges, grandchildren Melanie (21) and Jeremiah (3), and his sister Joanne Hilliard. He was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa and made Denver his permanent home in 1960 after vacationing in Colorado. He met Kathy at a Valentine's Day party and they married in 1964. His vacation spirit continued through his life as he enjoyed travelling the roads in Colorado and various other destinations by car with family and friends. Kathy believes she's been on every road in the state with him including the less ""scenic"" eastern plains and breakfast cookouts with the Coleman stove were a favorite family tradition. Jerry was a devoted family man who valued ""game night"", was a loving husband, father, and friend and enjoyed all that life had to offer. He laughed often, enjoyed the simple things in life, and lead by example. He enjoyed any chance he got to have dinner at the Blue Bonnet and the Bonnie Brae Tavern and often said ""he never met a burrito he didn't like."" He worked in the Plumbing and Heating supply business during his career and post retirement worked part-time at Engineered Products. He influenced and was respected by many throughout his career and was awarded terrific friends. Jerry's Celebration of Life Service and reception will be held Friday May 13, 1pm, Horan & McConaty 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue (at S. Parker Road). In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Porter Hospice at The Johnson Center in Centennial. Please share memories and condolences with Jerry's family by clicking on the ""sign guestbook"" link.
