Jerry Ray Glidden, a husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many, passed away on Friday May 15th, 2009 in his home in Aurora. Jerry is survived by his wife Mary Glidden, children; Kelly (Jason) Elmore, Brad Glidden and Kim (Raymond) Hilton, sister Terry Glidden and grandchildren Ricky, Wesley and Parker Hilton. Jerry was born to Peter Glidden and Eileen Cunningham on Feb. 15th, 1948 in Newton, Iowa. Jerry enjoyed traveling especially to Disney World and his most enjoyable trip was just last year when he went on his first Cruise on the Disney Wonder. Jerry was a Vietnam Vet serving 2 tours with the US Army. Jerry was a dedicated worker and true family man, he had a very strong moral compass. Jerry was adventurous, loved the outdoors and the state of Colorado. Jerry had a passion for aviation, photography, church choirs, playing the guitar and camping. . . He was a loyal friend and had a passion for life. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him. The week before Christmas in 2008 Jerry was diagnosed with ALS ""Lou Gehrig's disease"". The doctors advised him he only had a few months. . . Jerry took the news well, he continued to have his high spirit, positive attitude and was at peace. He was strong through the end and is a true inspiration to us all. Memorial Services will be held Thursday May 21st at 11:00am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave Aurora, CO 80014 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The ALS Association at www.ALSColorado.org.
