Jerry G. Michaelis, 68, an extraordinary man of character and integrity, passed away February 5, 2011 in Aurora, Colorado, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 15, 1942, in Ransom, Kansas to Arthur Leopold and Minnie Flax Michaelis. Jerry worked in advertising sales; served in Rotary International, active in the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and in the Gateway Optimist Club. He was a blessing to all and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Kay, of Aurora, CO; mother, Minnie Rufenacht, of Ness City, KS; daughter, Carrie (Darin) Marshall, of Aurora, CO; son, Trent Tyler, of Amarillo, TX; step-daughter, Renee (David) Farnie, of Annapolis, MD.; step-son, Kurt (Sabrina) Risley, Parker, CO; grandchildren Grace. Jakob, Luke, Ethan; siblings, Shirley Schweitzer, Wappapello, MO.; Dewayne Michaelis and Wade Michaelis, both of Ness City, KS; James Michaelis, Bazine, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole of 29 years, and his father, Arthur L. Michaelis. A public visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 13th, 2:00-4:00 pm at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue (at South Parker Road), Aurora, CO. A Funeral Service will be held at the Colorado Christian Fellowship, 10630 E. Iliff Ave., Aurora, CO., at 11 Am., Monday, February 14, 2011. Visitation at the Church will begin at 10am.
