Jesus Enrique Ramos, know to most as Henry, was born on October 6, 1943 to Jesse and Estela Nino Ramos in San Antonio, Texas, the first of five children. He grew up and attended school there until he was drafted into the army where he served as a medic in Germany during the Vietnam era. Upon returning home he married his wife Elva and together they welcomed their son Sam in October, 1971. The family moved to the Denver area a few years later where Henry attended Union College, received his degree and became a registered nurse. He worked in a local area hospital for a number of years, and later in correctional care for the city of Denver.
He and Elva went their separate ways, and in June of 1982 he married Mary Ann Michel and they lived in the Denver area until his passing. Together they enjoyed traveling, hiking in the mountain parks, photographing wildlife in several national parks, and generally appreciating the beautiful state and the Colorado Rocky mountains. Henry also liked visiting their families in Missouri and Texas, spending time with his many good friends, NASCAR racing, cheering the Denver sports teams, and especially walking his dog Heidi.
Henry passed away peacefully and quietly at their family home on May 5 after a nine month battle with leukemia, his family with him and his pets close by. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Ann of the home, and his son Sam Ramos of Englewood Colorado. He also leaves behind his sisters Aida Alcantara of Keene, Texas, and Margarita Ramos of Alvarado ,Texas, and brothers Robert Ramos of Benbrook, Texas and Edward Ramos of Cleburne, Texas. He also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and a great grandnephew.
There will be no services at the present as was his request, and he will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at a later date due to the current difficult times. In lieu of other gifts, donations may be given to The Denver Hospice, CaringBridge, or to the charity of your choice.
We all feel the terrible loss of this kind, gentle, giving man, loving husband and father who had such a hearty laugh. We are all the less for that loss. He will live on in our hearts.
