It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jill Susanne Trujillo DuPre, a vibrant, loving soul who touched the lives of many in her 44 years.
Jill was born in Denver, Colorado, at Rose Hospital, bringing immeasurable joy to her parents, Dave and Barb Trujillo. From the very beginning, Jill was cherished—her father remembers how tiny and delicate she seemed, while her mother laughed about how she persuaded the Stapleton Airport to rearrange flights to ensure Jill’s naps went undisturbed.
Jill’s early years were filled with warmth, laughter, and love, often spent at her grandparents, the Trujillo’s, home where aunts, uncles, and cousins ensured she was well loved and entertained.
Her grandparents, Kenneth and Ruth Wilson from Nebraska, were also a cherished part of her life, as were her Wilson aunts and uncles, and her cousins, a mischievous and distinctly malodorous group who referred to themselves as the Skunk Club.
At the age of six, Jill and her family moved to Willow Creek, where she attended Willow Creek Elementary, West Middle School, and Cherry Creek High School. An active child, Jill was a proud member of the Willow Creek Wahoos swim team, as well as a fierce, and graceful competitive ballet and tap dancer with Dance Works Dance Studios.
During high school, Jill balanced a challenging academic schedule with friendships, making time for fun and memories. Her teenage years were filled with Green Day and 311 concerts at Fiddler’s Green and Red Rocks, ski trips to Vail and Beaver Creek, house parties, and formal dances.
A natural leader, Jill also immersed herself in many activities and clubs, including the outdoor leadership club and DECA, where she competed successfully at the state level in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
Following her graduation in 1998, Jill attended Colorado State University where she would earn a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, with a concentration in marketing. It was during this time that Jill met Blair DuPre, her best friend and future husband, at a Friendsgiving celebration on November 23, 2001.
After graduating, Jill and Blair built a life together in Eagle, Colorado, embracing the mountain lifestyle. Winters were filled with skiing and snowboarding adventures, fall was marked with outdoor concerts and Oktoberfest celebrations, while summers were for rafting trips and fire pits.
Professionally, Jill enjoyed a successful career as a digital marketing leader, including seven years at Blizzard Marketing and eleven years running her own firm, JD Search Consulting. Together, Jill and Blair embraced every season with joy, laughter, and a shared love for the outdoors and each other.
Among her greatest joys was being an aunt. Jill adored her nieces and nephews, always ready with a warm hug, an impromptu dance party, a thoughtful gift, or a joke to make them laugh. She gave them her time, listening to all they had to say with great attention and consideration, and took great pride in their uniqueness and accomplishments, celebrating each moment she spent with them.
In 2020, Jill and Blair left their beloved mountains and returned to Denver to be closer to family – enjoying quality time while running tech support for her father and supporting her mother Barb in her battle with cancer and ALS. And then staying, to access many of the same resources for her own fight against cancer.
From the beginning, Jill's diagnosis was dire, but she moved through it with grace. Even as she endured massive surgeries and countless radiation and chemo treatments, she was as engaging and kind as ever. She took the time to learn the names of everyone her treatment center - from the front desk attendant to the nurses administering her transfusions. Jill lost and regrew her hair multiple times and suffered near constant physical and mental distress. Through it all, she stayed positive, fighting and living life on her own terms. Joking, laughing, and loving, she was strong for us all.
Jill will be remembered for her kindness and quick wit. Her playful nature, her infectious laughter, hilarious stories, timely texts, dedication to her family and friends, and her ability to lift the spirits of all those around her.
Jill was preceded in death by her mother, Barb, whom, with any luck, she is laughing and sipping chardonnay with at this very moment.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Blair Dupre; her father, Dave Trujillo; her sisters, Jessi Hubbard and Kelly Koch, and their families, including the nieces and nephews she loved so dearly. She also leaves behind a large extended family—many aunts, uncles, and cousins—and countless friends whose lives she touched.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in our hearts. Rest in peace and wellness. Rock on Jill. You were deeply loved, you are profoundly missed, and you will never be forgotten.
Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, 11am-3pm, Hiwan Golf Club, 30671 Clublouse Lane, Evergreeen, Colorado.
