Jim was born in Electra, TX on May 10, 1946 to Buford and Vida Mae (Johnson) Crick. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1951. Jim was raised in the Edmond, OK area and graduated in1964 from Edmond High School. He attended Central State University for one year. In 1965, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Vietnam; Pickstown, SD Radar Air Base; and Murphy Dome, AK. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Jim married Karen Buus on June 4, 1968. They resided in Oklahoma City where he was employed by the family business. In 1971, they moved to Wagner, SD. Jim worked for Wagner Building Supply and Westway Trading Corporation. In 1981, the family moved to Watertown, SD. While residing there, he worked for Enercept Building Systems, RMR Industries, and Paragon Homes. They moved to Thornton, CO in 2002. He worked for Restoration Drycleaning of Denver and was working for Professional Restoration at the time of his death. In 1981, Jim was selected by the South Dakota/Minnesota Rotary district to visit Australia on an international exchange program. In 1993, he was also selected by the State of South Dakota to attend the Jetro's Export to Japan Study Program to acquire greater knowledge of the Japanese market in Tokyo, Japan. Jim's first love was his family, and he spent many years coaching little league, soccer, baseball and basketball. He became a mentor to many young people in Watertown, SD. He was also an avid Turkey hunter. Jim is survived by his wife Karen (Buus) Crick of Thornton, CO, his three children, Shanda (Nick) Reifschneider of Thornton, CO; Shawn (Kelly) Crick of Broomfield, CO; and Jacob Crick of Watertown, SD; his one grandson, Benjamin Reifschneider of Thornton, CO; his mother Vida Mae Dozier of Crescent, OK; his three brothers, Malcolm (Betty) Crick of Alvin, TX, Doug (Roberta) Crick of Crescent, OK, and Marvin (Marilyn) Crick of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by his Brother-in-Law John Buus of Watertown, SD; his Sister-in-Law Norma Halbur of Shoreview, MN, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. His father, Buford Crick, preceded him in death. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 25th, at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO. A Funeral Mass is being held on Friday, January 26th at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 11385 Grant Drive, Northglenn, CO.
