In loving memory of Jimmie Lou (Blassingame) Bennett, who passed away peacefully in Highlands Ranch, Colorado on Monday, January 22nd, 2024.
Born in Colorado City, Texas, Jimmie Lou lived a dynamic life. She was born during the Great Depression on a cotton farm in the middle of the Dust Bowl, with six sisters and one brother. She was incredibly intelligent, winning chemistry awards as a teenager, and went on to become a successful nurse. Married to an Air Force pilot, she shepherded their five children through many moves across the United States and Europe, eventually settling in Southern California where she applied her medical skills at a local clinic until her retirement.
Beyond her professional achievements, she was known for her prowess on the golf course (she had two holes-in-one!), competitive spirit on the tennis court, and excellence at bridge.
She remains the cherished matron of her family, leaving behind three children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She lived a rich life filled with love, hardships, tragedies, and triumphs; she handled it all with grace and determination. She will be remembered by those who knew her with admiration, gratitude, and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
