Jimmy V. Cox was born on April 21, 1937 in Holden Missouri to Elva & Leroy Cox. After growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, Jimmy joined the Air Force in May of 1956 and received an honorable discharge in May of 1960. He served at Travis Air Force Base and Mather Air Force Base, both in California. Following his discharge from the Air Force, he and his family moved to Denver where he worked for Martin Marietta until he joined the Denver Police Department January 1, 1965. Jimmy proudly served as an officer for the Denver Police Department until his retirement in January of 1994.
On November 5, 1956 Jimmy married Kay McNulty and they had four children, Doug in 1958, Judy in 1960, Steve in 1963, and Karla in 1967.
Jimmy passed away on October 14, 2018 and is survived by his loving family; Wife, Kay Cox; Children Doug (Colleen) Cox, Judy Smith, Steve (Rubi) Cox, Karla (Brian) Hoyt; 10 Grandkids, 7 Great-Grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton Colorado.
Jimmy will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Monday, October 22, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Jimmy's honor to Lutheran Hospice or to the Denver Police Museum.
