Jim was born September 20, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to Mary Emma and Edward Franklin Winkleblack. He attended school in the Denver area with his four siblings. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962. After getting out of the Navy he attended Emily Griffith Opportunity School to pursue a career in the HVAC trade. A career that lasted for more than 40 years. He worked for Polar Refrigeration for more than 35 years doing commercial refrigeration. He retired from Polar in 2003. He was well thought of by many of his customers who would request only him to repair their equipment. He had an easy going personality and a great sense of humor. He was very mechanically minded and there were very few things he couldn't repair, whether at home or on the job. When he wasn't working he enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and the Denver broncos. He liked watching the golf tournaments on TV and usually had a particular golfer he would want to win. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 32 years, children, Michael (Tanda), Bill, Kelly Collins, and Stepson, Dana Boom (Daniell), daughter-in-law Sandy Boom, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Jane Davis, Bob (Barbara), Gary (Lea), and Charlotte Ramirez and several nieces and nephews and many who lives he has touched.
