Palmy passed away on January 2, 2016 at the age of 86 years. He was born in Knoxville, Iowa on May 27, 1929 and graduated from Pella High School in the class of 1947. He then was in the United States Army as a paratrooper serving in the occupational forces in Japan. On October 28, 1948, he married Jo Vande Voort and they lived their entire married life of 67 years in the Denver area. They were the owners of Quist Furniture Manufacturing for 32 years. After that time, they had Palmquist Enterprises dealing in the mortgage and real estate business. He is survived by his wife, Jo; son, Dan (Mary) Palmquist; grandchildren, Emily and Andrew; sister, Dolores (Larry) DeGoey of Atlanta, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Greg Palmquist; and brother, Nelson Vander Pol. A Memorial Reception honoring ""Palmy"" will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, beginning at 12 noon, at Horan & McConaty, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003.
