Joan F. Anderies, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 6, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on July 14, 1934, in Denver, Joan spent her entire life in Colorado enjoying its beauty and spirit.
Joan graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1952 and worked for the Denver City and County Municipal Court. Via a family introduction, she met her late husband Jack Anderies whom she married on January 12, 1957. Joan shared a long, happy life with Jack. Together they enjoyed a variety of activities including dancing – particularly the jitterbug – road trips to Santa Fe and Taos, running their arts and crafts store in Red Feather Lakes, and raising their five children.
One of Joan’s most memorable traits was her incredible sense of humor and endearing laugh. Sharp-witted, she had a keen ability to quickly bring laughter, energy, and joy into any space. Joan was also known for her unique expressions such as “this isn’t worth the powder to blow it up,” “I haven’t the foggiest notion,” and “I don’t have a sous marquee.” Joan's ubiquitous term of endearment, "dear heart," invariably brought a smile to the faces of all she encountered.
Joan was a talented artist. Whether she was painting Christmas ornaments, designing a wreath, or wrapping a package, her appreciation for beauty was evident in everything she touched. Her Christmas packages were so beautiful, you didn’t want to open them and mess up her artwork.
Joan loved her crossword puzzles and never turned down an opportunity to play a competitive game of Scrabble or Boggle. Some of her favorite pass times included watching the Denver Broncos, enjoying a glass of rose wine with some peanut butter-filled pretzels in the afternoon, and spending time with her family.
Joan was a dedicated mother to Frank (Vikki), Jeanine (Steve), Chris (Jeannette), Marty (Peggy), and Angie (Davin) and loved her grandchildren, Matt, Brittany, Barrett, Ausette, and Ivan. In addition to her human family, Joan also loved her fur babies and grand dogs, who brought her comfort and companionship.
