Joan Cooper

December 3, 1944 — January 23, 2013

Joan Cooper, December 3, 1944-January 23, 2013 Those of us who were privileged to know Joan know what an incredible wife, mother, sister, friend and proud grandma she was. She lived life to the fullest and had many interests-politics, swimming, football (especially the Broncos!), friends, love of country and spoiling her 3 grandchildren. She was a loyal and dedicated friend to so many and will be sorely missed by all. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she met the love of her life, Bob Cooper, as a young widow and married him in 1966. They moved to Colorado with their only child Amy in 1979 and completely fell in love with the majestic mountains of their new lifelong home. They opened their own carpet chemical/supply business called Carpet Plus and had many good years there before selling it in 1997. She then went on to work for Arapahoe County until her well deserved retirement several years ago. In 2005 she lost her beloved Bob and went on to stay in their Aurora home with her 3 Maine Coon Cats-Nubb, Gus and Lily. Bob and Joan loved their life together and had so many fun times with friends and family in their home-especially during football season! After a sudden and unexpected illness, she passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on January 23, 2013. She is survived by her daughter Amy, ""son-in-love"" Chuck, sister Marilyn Kitchel (Frank), brother Edward French and 3 beloved grandchildren Joan Claire (12), Elizabeth (8) and Charlie (5). Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26 at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave, Aurora 80014. Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM followed by a chapel service from 10-11 AM. After the service, friends and family are invited to a ""celebration of her life"" party in her home at 4337 S. Granby Way, Aurora 80015 where food, drink, gambling and happy memories will be shared. Burial services will be Tuesday, January 29 at Ft Logan Cemetery, Staging area B at 11:30 AM. Those who love her are comforted by the fact that Bob and Joan are finally reunited and we know that the heavenly football/card party has only just begun. Please share memories and leave condolences by signing the guestbook.
