Joan Hodges

Joan (Joni) Petersen Hodges, age 61, passed away on May 17, 2023 after an illness. She was born on September 29, 1961 in Denver and was a life-long Colorado resident. Joan graduated from Northglenn High School in 1979 and worked as a business manager for the Cindy Smith Company for more than 30 years.

Joan’s sense of independence and adventure led her to travel through Europe for several weeks after her graduation. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her family, was an excellent cook and baker and loved hosting family dinners and celebrations. Joan’s family; large extended family; and many friends would describe her as dedicated, caring, and generous with an excellent sense of style. Her nieces and nephews considered her to be the “cool and fun” aunt and were very fond of her. Joan faced her illness with courage and optimism and she will be deeply missed.

Joan is survived by Eric Hodges, whom she met in 1984 and married in 1994, her son Dylan, and daughter Carly (fiancé Ben). She is also survived by her parents, Duane and Lorraine (Laurienti) Petersen, Northglenn, Colorado; sister Teri Ginther (Paul), Wichita, Kansas; and Dave Petersen, Firestone Colorado. Joan had two nieces, two nephews, four great-nieces and one great-nephew. Joan is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Jim and Rose Young, Westminster, Colorado; and sister-in-law Claudia Rivera and Joe of Mexico.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton CO 80229. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., Immaculate Heart of May Catholic Parish, 11385 Grant Dr., Northglenn, CO 80233. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
